Our Story
Where it all began

Drama With A Difference has operated for 30 years.
It has been the initial training ground for some of Australia’s best- known actors. Several of these wonderful people have returned again and again to teach at the school.

Founded and led by Michele Williams, the school has always been passionately committed to making drama accessible to adults of all ages and backgrounds. Michele has guided hundreds of students, from complete beginners discovering the stage for the first time, to professionals preparing for major auditions and screen roles.

Today, Drama With A Difference has evolved into a focused private coaching practice. Michele works one-on-one with adults who want a deeply personalised, transformative experience , whether for personal growth, professional development, or serious acting ambitions.

Our mission is to offer high-quality, personal drama coaching to adults of all ages, and to support those who are beginning to consider a professional path but don't know where to start.

The philosophy is simple: every human being is born with exceptional creative abilities. What they need is the right environment to nurture and bring those abilities to fruition. Experience level is irrelevant, what matters is presence, openness, and willingness to explore.

Drama can improve confidence, assist with professional presentations and public speaking, and serve as a profound form of stress release. Many clients describe this last benefit as the most unexpected and most treasured.

Director

Michele Williams

Michele Williams is the founder of Drama With A Difference and one of the instructors for the Adult Recreational Drama Class, alongside Chris Connelly. Chris has taught at the school for many years and has brought numerous public performances to fruition. Michele and Chris have also acted together in several professional productions.

Michele trained as a classical actor at The Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London and at UNCSA in the USA, and holds a BA from the University of Melbourne. She has performed in theatre in London, the US, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and regional Australian tours, receiving critical acclaim from many of Australia’s leading theatre critics. For the past 30 years, Michele has run Drama With A Difference with a talented team of teachers. She has taught the Adult Recreational Performance class for many years and directed numerous adult stage productions.

Michele has privately coached many young people who have successfully auditioned for prestigious full-time drama schools and film and TV roles. She has taught upfront presentation skills to groups of adults in the corporate sector as well as privately.
