Teenage Classes – for ages 12–17

Introduction – Teenage Classes

Our teenage program forms a major part of the school. Teenagers are introduced to the techniques of acting used at major full time drama schools, adapted for their age and experience.

Benefits of attending classes include:

  • Greater confidence
  • Experience for interviews in later life.
  • A greater imagination
  • The capacity for original thinking
  • Team work and team building
  • The ability to speak in front of others.

Term classes

A 1.5-hour weekly class is offered on Mondays. For more information:

  • See our Term Classes page for subjects covered, and venues, dates and costs
  • Book online via our Bookings page.

Teenage Intensive: International Fringe Festival film/theatre show

This 2-hour weekly course is held at our Northcote/Fairfield venue on Tuesdays. It covers film and theatre and in 2010 members of this class will perform a theatre piece (mix of film and theatre) for the 2010 Melbourne International Fringe Festival.

Our approach to teaching

For general information about our approach to teaching primary school aged children, see our Term Classes page. For more extensive information, see our Philosophy and Approach page.

The Future

Drama with a Difference aims to be the leader in youth theatre and film making, with our central premises now providing a place for cutting edge acting to take place. We encourage the ideas of our students and celebrate their individuality. We encourage teenagers to look at themselves from a cultural and historical perspective. With the internet as one of the biggest (if not the biggest) change in how we give and receive information, what does it mean to be the first generation that has never known a world without it? It is broadly accepted that anyone over 25 is living in a RADICALLY DIFFERENT WORLD from anyone under 25.

  • Our performances and short films will reflect what is meaningful for teenagers today.
  • The school will continue to draw on the works of the past, encouraging teenagers to look at change.
  • We will give a voice to adolescents.
  • We will offer programs that continue to be of relevance to their futures.
