Primary Classes – for ages 8–12

Weekend Film and TV Workshop

This course will appeal to children who want to be in the film and/or TV industry; however it is open to EVERYONE. Learning camera skills has the benefits of increasing confidence, creativity, imagination and memory. Also, by the time your children are in the workforce, it is likely that they will need to feel comfortable being seen on camera regardless of what they do for a living! It is probable that many universities will use IT to interview potential participants (this is already happening with universities overseas), workplace meetings with interstate and international colleagues will be online, and job interviews themselves will no doubt end up online too. Students will:

  • Learn the different ‘levels’ of performing and improvising for stage and TV via seeing themselves on camera, firstly in improvisation, where they will discuss what aspects of their movement, voice etc. were too ‘big’ and/or too ‘small’.
  • Be given a script, or a series of scripts that will appropriate for their age.
  • Have an opportunity to go over these scripts many times without being filmed.
  • Have the opportunity to have these scripts filmed several times. After each playback, children will be given positive, constructive and nurturing feedback, and then have the opportunity to see how they improve.
  • Have an opportunity at the end of the day to listen to a talk about how the industry really works. They can ask questions and enter the discussion.
