Primary Classes – for ages 8–12

Term Classes

Drama with a Difference offers primary school aged children with drama classes for a variety of needs and intentions:

  • Increased confidence and self-esteem.
  • Better communication and team playing skills
  • Enhanced sense of creativity
  • Speaking in front of others
  • Children who may wish to look at the possibility of auditioning (and perhaps obtaining) roles in film, TV and Theatre.

Our courses are designed to accommodate students starting later in the term or the year (except when we are very close to performance times).

Subjects include:

  • Improvisation: Coming up with imaginative ideas “on the spot”
  • Character Work
  • Creative Movement: Not dance as such, expressive, free form movement which relates to how different characters move.
  • Voice: As the child gets more confident and/or experienced, the voice naturally strengthens.

These ‘subjects’ are not taught in isolation, but are applied and taught as the basis for the rehearsals that lead to the performance.

The Witches by Roald Dahl

Melbourne International Comedy Festival - Term 1

The stage version of Roald Dahl’s The Witches is a series of short plays – each of which provides wonderful opportunities for comedic acting. The characters are larger than life and live in a fanciful world – two of the main elements that comedy often contains.

We will select a number of the short plays for the primary school group to perform. This will offer students the opportunity to play a range of characters.
